Tip 1: Choose an Appropriate Outfit

Neutral colors, trimmed suits, and tasteful accessories are a great place to start when preparing for an interview. Stray away from bold colors, wild patterns, or big, distracting jewelry. Also, choose an outfit that is appropriate for the company. Some business settings are more formal than others, so keep that in mind. Professionalism is key in this setting so it’s advised that you keep your attire as simple and professional as possible in order to make the best impression on your interviewer.

Tip 2: Do Your Research

Nothing could be worse than being asked a question about the company that you do not know the answer to. This is why it’s incredibly important to know everything you can about the company before you get there. Review their website and familiarize yourself with the company information to ensure you know everything necessary to ace your interview.

Tip 3: Practice Your Interview

Practice makes perfect is a very accurate statement that should never be ignored. The biggest mistake an interviewee could make is to “wing it” and not prepare for the task ahead of them. Grab a friend or family member and ask them to prepare a few mock questions for you to answer so that you can prepare your responses beforehand and accurately communicate what you would like to say.

Tip 4: Review Interview Etiquette

Do you shake hands before and after the interview? How should you sit? These, along with many more questions, are the things you won’t necessarily think of beforehand. Don’t get caught in the moment with these questions unanswered! Review interview etiquette before you go in to ensure the highest level of confidence and composure. Remember to be engaged with the interviewer, interested in the conversation, and actively listen and ask questions to convey your enthusiasm during the interview.

Tip 5: Follow Up With a Thank You Note

After you ace your interview with the previously listed tips, send a thank you note to the company to express your appreciation for their time. It may seem a little unnecessary, but it’s very impressive on the receiving end. Besides, that card may be the deciding factor between you and someone else so it really doesn’t hurt to go the extra mile to show your gratitude.

By paying attention to these tips and implementing them in your next interview you will surely find success. These tips go to show that sometimes the simplest things make the biggest impact so we hope you’ll take note and use them during your next interview. Professionalism goes a long way and we love to see our clients succeed in all their endeavors! Happy interviewing!
